Frequently asked questions

The following questions are related to the Cisco Control Center Platform:

Within the Cisco Control Center Platform, you have the capability to manage and monitor your IoT connections. One possibility is to change the connection status. To stop the billing for a particular device, you can deactivate the connection associated with that device or set it to ‘Activation Ready’. Do note that there may be a minimum term for that specific connection.

Cisco employs redundancy measures, high-availability protocols, and other infrastructure best practices to ensure consistent access to the Control Center Platform. The platform is monitored both by the Service Quality Center (SQC) of KPN and the Network Operation Center (NOC) of Cisco. For KPN, the platform is hosted in two regionally separated data centers.

The Cisco Control Center is designed to be customizable to meet diverse business needs. Each connection has fields such as ‘Device ID’ or ‘Modem ID’ available, and also, 10 account-specific fields can be labeled and enabled. This way, all kinds of information can be placed in the system. Entering that information can be done manually, using APIs, or uploading batch-files.

Many modern platforms, including Cisco's, have been transitioning towards REST APIs because of their wide acceptance and versatility. While SOAP APIs might have been prevalent earlier, the current platform's direction is towards providing similar, if not the same, functionalities via REST. Not all SOAP APIs are available in the REST API stack, but specific APIs can be created upon customer request.

The frequency of the Enterprise Reports (also known as JPO Reports or FTP Reports) will be pushed to your FTP server on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Normally they are available around the same time. Higher frequencies are not available. Nevertheless, with the introduction of Dynamic Reports, the requested reports can be scheduled and can become available at a specified time of the day.

The Cisco Control Center Platform supports various automation capabilities with different ways to handle the outcome. Outcomes may include sending out an email or executing tasks directly in the platform. Another outcome can be a PUSH API towards your own BackEnd system. This system can then respond to that PUSH API with various actions towards your environment as well as sending different kinds of APIs towards the Cisco Control Center.
